چکیده

The present work was performed to study the effect of vaccination with Cocci Vac B on cellular and humoral immunity of chickens. The study comprised 70 chicks hatched from hens none vaccinated against coccidiosis. The chicks were subdivided into 4 groups. The 1st group comprised 25 chicks, kept as apparently healthy control, the 2nd group consists of 10 chicks, infected with 10000 mixed sporulated Eimeria oocysts at 4 weeks old, the 3rd group comprised 25 chicks, vaccinated once with Cocci Vac B at one day old and the 4th group consists of 10 chicks vaccinated once with Cocci Vac B at one day old then challanged at 4 weeks old. Chicks in all groups were weighted weekly and feed consumption was calculated for each group during the experimental period (6 weeks). The cellular and humoral immune responses in addition to histopathological examination were studied. Infected chickens (group 2) showed a highly significant decease in body weight, weight gain, gain % and feed consumption. In contrast the vaccinated chicks (group 3) and the infected of previously vaccinated chicks (group 4) have no marked significant changes in the body performance when compared with healthy control. Regarding the cellular immune response, infected chicks of the 2nd group and vaccinated chicks of the 3rd group have nearly the same stimulatory effect on lymphocytic transformation rate, phagocytosis percent, bacterial killing percent and chemotaxis index. But vaccinated and infected ones of the 4th group showed marked stimulation when compared with healthy control. The leukogram of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th groups revealed significant increase in total leucocytic, heterophilic, lymphocytic, monocytic and eosinophilic counts when compared with healthy control. The humoral immune response revealed a highly significant increase in antibody titre of the 2 nd and 4 th groups compared with the healthy control. Serum IgM showed a significant increase in the 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th groups. While IgG showed a significant increase in 3 rd and 4 th groups compared with health control. These results were confirmed by histopathological examination of the intestine and bursa which revealed severe reaction in response to infection of the 2 nd group. On other hand the reaction was mild in the 3 rd and moderate in the 4 th group. From our study we recommended that: Vaccination against coccidiosis is cost effective, compared with the anticoccidial program , and it came over the problems of chemical residues in poultry meat, which happened due to the use of anitcoccidial drugs as food additives in prophylactic

The efficacy of a poultry commercial anticoccidial vaccine in experimental challenge with Eimeria field isolates

BACKGROUND: The control of coccidiosis in poultry industryis dominated by prophylactic chemotherapy; however, drug resistance is a serious problem. Alternative control methodssuch as vaccination have been accepted as a practical method forcontrolling coccidiosis in chickens. Considering the immunologicalvariation of Eimeria strains, the efficacy of live coccidiosisvaccines may be compromised. OB...

Evaluation of Humoral and Cell-mediated Immunity of Two Capripoxvirus Vaccine Strains against Lumpy Skin Disease Virus

Background and Aims: Prevention of Lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cattle is heavily dependent on vaccination. Since the genetic structure of LSD virus has the close relatedness with other Capri-pox virus (CaPV). Therefore, the use of vaccine strains of CaPV derived from sheep and goat would be useful to protect cattle against LSD. Materials and Methods: The susceptible calves of dairy farms were ...

Effect of LIGHT Adjuvant on Kinetics of T-Cell Responses Induced by HSV-1 DNA Immunization

Background: Studies on efficacy of various vaccines that prevent or reduce the primary and recurrent HSV-1 infection have demonstrated the importance of cellular immunity for protection against the infection. We previously used DNA vaccination to induce cellular immunity against HSV-1 infection in mice. Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of LIGHT, a member of TNF super f...

Interpretation of Serologic Test Results and Evaluation of Humoral Immune Response After Vaccination Following Infection with COVID-19 Disease

SARS-CoV-2 virus infection induces a cellular and humoral mediated immune response and produces antibodies against viral antigens such as nucleocapsid (N) protein and spike (S) protein. Anti-protein S antibodies also target the spike protein subunit S1 and the receptor binding domain (RBD). Serologic tests can detect the presence of these antibodies in blood serum within a few days to a few wee...

Background: Problems of live and inactivated influenza vaccines such as, increasing emerge and re-emerge viruses with high human mortality, current epidemics of influenza and direct transmission of avian viruses to human, affect the vaccination program. DNA vaccines as third generation of vaccines is specially considered for control of influenza in human and poultry. The main advantage of these...

Extract and leaf powder effect of Artemisia annua on performance, cellular and humoral immunity in broilers

The effects of methanolic extract and leaf powder of Artemisia annua were studied on performance, cellular and humoral immunity in 240 Cobb broiler chicks in a completely randomized design. Control group did not receive any treatment. The chicks in the second and third groups were fed with feed which contained 2000 and 4000 ppm plant extract in diet and in the groups 4, 5 and 6 chicks received ...
